The University of Strasbourg is committed to facilitating the international mobility of its students, teacher-researchers and staff. Every year, nearly 3,000 students go abroad to gain international experience.

Studying or working at the University of Strasbourg means joining a university that boasts partnerships in over 70 countries with more than 750 international establishments. Thanks to this extensive network, you have the opportunity to gain international experience by taking part in mobility programmes.

What is international mobility?

This is an opportunity for students to study at another university, find an internship or a job abroad, improve their skills in a foreign language, gain access to archives or exchange best professional practices.

Choose the mobility programme that best suits you

Study abroad

The University of Strasbourg offers more than 80 international academic programmes in over 20 partner countries. You can take part in binational, trinational or multinational programmes of excellence, in partnership with one or more other countries. They enable you to study at one or more foreign universities for one or more semesters.

At the end of the programme, you will receive both a diploma from the University of Strasbourg and from each partner university where you completed part of your studies.

Long-term mobility

Study-abroad programmes

Whether you are an undergraduate or doctoral student, you can take part in a long-term study abroad programme, ranging from two months to one year, depending on the programme you choose. The University of Strasbourg offers long-term programmes worldwide as part of the Erasmus+ programme, inter-university cooperation agreements (in Switzerland and the UK, for example), partner networks (such as Eucor – The European Campus and the Utrecht network) or the Quebec Interuniversity Cooperation Office (Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire  BCI).

Traineeships abroad

Do a two- to six-month traineeship abroad to gain international professional experience.

French language assistant programmes

Work as a French language assistant at an academic institution abroad for four and a half to 12 months to share the French culture with others and improve your language skills.

Short-term or one-off mobility

Study abroad outside of international exchange programmes

If you are an undergraduate or doctoral student at the University of Strasbourg, you can attend courses through a free mobility programme in three different countries at the five universities that are part of the Eucor alliance.

Student group mobility

Whether it's for coursework, practical work (travaux pratiques – TP), seminars, field studies or intercultural exchanges, the University of Strasbourg can support you in your group mobility projects at a Eucor university or in the Upper Rhine region. You can also benefit from grants to finance your group participation in international summer schools, seminars or workshops through the Sens§us project.

Short-term staff mobility

If you work at the University of Strasbourg, you can get support for short-term staff mobility (lasting from one day to two months) to prepare international cooperation projects, develop or strengthen international partnerships, take part in training courses, teach courses or share best practices with other services.

Hybrid and online mobility

Hybrid mobility

Hybrid mobility allows you to alternate between in-person activities abroad and online activities. If you are a student or a staff member at the University of Strasbourg, you can take part in hybrid mobility programmes at the nine partner universities of the European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions (EPICUR). You can also join blended intensive programmes (BIPs).

Online mobility

For some mobility programmes, you'll need language certifications. Prepare for and take your certification exams at the university with the Language Certification Section of the Language Centre for Specialists in Other Disciplines (Cellule de certifications en langues du pôle Langues pour spécialistes d'autres disciplines – LANSAD).

Preparing for your departure

Once your application has been accepted, prepare for your departure by attending the "Preparing for Mobility in Europe" workshop and the teaching unit (Unité d'enseignement UE) entitled "Ich bin dann mal weg: Preparing for Mobility in a German-Speaking Country". Mobility during your PhD

If you're a doctoral student, the University of Strasbourg encourages you to gain experience abroad by taking part either in the International Doctoral Programme (Programme doctoral international PDI), or in mobility and exchange programmes, or by opting for the joint supervision (cotutelle) or co-supervision of your thesis.

Mobility for students with disabilities

Are you a student with a disability? The University of Strasbourg can help you with your international mobility project. We can contact your host institution to arrange the necessary accommodations. We will also give you information about any financial aid available to cover your expenses and those of your companion(s).
